My Stance on Blogging
Skeptical would describe my initial feelings on blogs in the classroom, but after having read the chapters in our class book and researching educational blogs on the internet, my feelings have changed. I am now very excited to start blogging and I feel like it can be a very beneficial educational tool. There still are many risks associated with young students posting on the internet, but I have found that there are many ways to avoid these risks and I think that as blogging in classrooms becomes more readily used, these prevention techniques will only improve. I am very excited to start experimenting with this blog and gaining valuable experience to take into my future classroom.
The Top 101 Web Sites for Teachers
The Top 101 Websites for Teachers is a collection of websites that the author has found to be useful in an educational setting. While these sites are not other blogs, they include sites such as National Geographic for Kids, Time for Kids, and FirstGov just to name a few. These are all educational sites kids can visit to do online activities. This site also has many links to other outside resources such as Kath Schrock's Guide for Educators, another site with an abundance of educational resources.
Added Link: Teachers Network
While searching the internet for new links to add, I came across Teachers Network. It is a site for teachers ran by teachers. It has great information including lesson plans, daily classroom specials, videos, and even a teacher store. I have found this site to be very helpful and I am excited to continue exploring it.
